Today is the last day of the community Chinese class run by our Chinese teacher, Ms Zhang Yi and Ms Piao Ye. The Confucius Classroom coordinator, Juncai and the community class students prepared a farewell dinner for Yi and Ye who have been with the current students for nearly one year. Students extended their thanks to their teachers' hard work and send their best wishes. A lot of touching conversations and goodbye hugs were seen at this dinner.Towards the end of the dinner, Yi and Ye sang a beautiful Chinese song to express their appreciation.

Welcoming Spring Season in Chinese Classes

9/3/2013

The Chinese Program Students at Kangaroo Flat Primary School and Specimen Hill Primary School did a Chinese paper cutting class to welcome the Spring season and decorate their schools. This was a lesson designed to help student learn Chinese characters, Chinese arts and Chinese culture. The character they learned to write and make is 春 (chun), which means Spring in English. Spring is a very important season in China, not only because it enriches the nature, but also because it is the season when people celebrate Chinese New Year, the most important festival to Chinese people.

Chinese Lunch Excursion

9/3/2013

The Chinese Program students at Camp Hill Primary School focus on learning Chinese language used in a restaurant setting this term. They had been practising their Chinese speaking very hard because they knew they were going to use them in a real Chinese restaurant. These students were given an opportunity yesterday, 2nd September, to have their lunch excursion in a local Chinese Restaurant. Students used Mandarin to order a Chinese meal and a drink. And they used chopsticks to finish their meal as well. The Chinese waiters and waitress were surprised at the students' language levels when they heard our students’ Chinese pronunciation and polite phrases during the conversation. Such valuable learning experience has not only helped students sharpen their language skills, but also motivate them to learn better and deeper about Chinese culture and language.
