On Wednesday, 14th August, the Junior Department of California Gully Primary School students came to visit BSSC Confucius Classroom for a Chinese Cultural Immersion Day. Students from Pre to Grade 2 enjoyed a wide range of language and cultural activities which included Chinese Kungfu, Chinese Paper cutting, Chopstick Challenges, Peking Opera Mask painting, Chinese games and language learning. The immersion day finished with a presentation and a quiz session when students celebrated and reviewed their learning of the day. China On Wednesday P/1/2 went on a bus to BSSC. We had Chinese teachers. We went there because we were learning more about China. We had six activities in three different rooms. They gave us some food for morning tea. It was hot food, biscuits, cake and fruit. We did things that I did not expect. We did interesting things. We did kungfu, a chopstick challenge, paper cutting, opera mask painting and some songs. It was a great day. By Jayde C. 1/2A Our Chinese Day On Wednesday Grades P/1/2 went to BSSC. We went on a bus. I sat with Jordan on the bus and we played ‘I Spy’. We got to know about China a lot more. Our teachers were Chinese teachers. We split up into three groups. We had letters for our groups on our hands. First we learnt about Chinese language and how to say hello, how are you, good thanks and thank you. It was a very good day. We did Kungfu and Chinese language to say hello, how are you and goodbye. My group did Peking Opera mask painting, paper cuts, Chinese games, songs, and the chopstick challenge. Then we had a walk around the park after our lunch. By Sarah H. 1/2A Our Chinese Day On Wednesday Grade P/1/2 went to BSSC. We learnt lots of language and we played a Drop the Handkerchief. It was fun. After that we had some cake, biscuits, hot food and a drink. After that we did something different. We did a Chinese paper cut picture. Ella and I had very big scissors. We made a symbol that meant Spring. Our teacher’s name was Mr Lin. We did some more language at the end. For lunch we went to the park and saw some flowers. After a walk we had another mask painting and a chopstick challenge. We had to pick up a lolly with chopsticks. At the end we got a lolly to eat. It was yummy. At the end we sang a song.
