1.5 Identify appropriate resources, as required.
Assessment Task - Description
To complete the task satisfactorily, students must be able to carry out research, create and present a short PowerPoint presentation that explains:
· Business conventions of written workplace texts eg. format and structure of a job application and Curriculum Vitae
· Cultural conventions of writing job applications eg. what is expected of a ‘求职信’ (a cover letter)
Instructions to Students
You are applying for a job in CHINA. Using the Internet and other appropriate resources such as textbooks, business publications, magazines or dictionaries, carry out research into:
· How to write a CV (简历)
· How to write a cover letter (求职信)
· The culturally appropriate expressions to use in a formal letter
· The business conventions of a formal letter e.g. structure and format
You will need to present your findings in a PowerPoint presentation.
Include a bibliography to indicate the resources you have used to gain this understanding. This presentation may be written in English (with Chinese example where appropriate), or entirely in Chinese. You may choose to speak either English or Chinese when presenting (for Competency, it is not required that you speak Chinese while presenting).
Assessment Task – Competency
Students must meet all assessment criteria in order to be assessed as Competent.
Where a student is assessed as Not Yet Competent in any aspect, then support may be provided in order to enable review and for students to attain competency. Re-assessment will be conducted in accordance with relevant school policies and procedures.
For Competency, the student's communication(s) in the Language must convey meaning clearly and be culturally appropriate, even though some grammatical, lexical or pronunciation inaccuracies may occur.

This Assessment Task will take place in class on 20 June 2014.
