Further Information about your child's participation
Dear Parent/s,
If your child is committed to participating in the Bendigo Easter Parade (Gala Parade) on Sunday, 21 April, below is further information that you need to be aware of:
Because this parade involves students from different primary schools, the briefing, assembly and pickup locations will all be in the Language Centre of Bendigo Senior Secondary College (please refer to map in page 2). You can park your car near the Bendigo Senior Secondary College and walk along Gaol Road to find the Language Centre in the school. Students will get changed and have a brief rehearsal and light lunch before walking to the Parade Entry Point. The parade route is along View Street, Pall Mall, McCrae Street, and Chapel Street.
Assembly Location: Language Centre of Bendigo Senior Secondary College
Address: Gaol Rd, Bendigo VIC 3550
Arrival time: 10:30 am
Sign in process: Please see one of the teachers onsite to sign in your kid when you drop them off at the Language Centre.
Pickup location: Language Centre of Bendigo Senior Secondary College
Pickup Time: 2:15-2:45 pm
Sign off process: Please see one of the teachers onsite to sign off your kid when you pick them up at the Language Centre.
Parents helper: If you have already let us know that you will walk with your kids during the parade, you will not need to return to Language Centre to sign off.
Things to be aware of
• It will be very hard to find parking near the school on that day, because QEO parking, Park Road and Gaol Road will NOT be available to the public. I advise parents arrive earlier to secure a car park.
• Most participating students will be provided with a T-shirt/Chinese costume to wear during the parade, so it is advised that they wear a light coloured singlet underneath and black pant to BSSC that day.
• Parent helpers who are willing to walk in the Parade, if will be great if you can wear a red T-shirt too.
• Students are expected to walk about 1.5km in the parade; therefore, they are required to bring their own hats in case of hot weather.
• The Confucius Classroom will prepare a light lunch and sunscreen before walking to the Entry Point.
• It is advised that your children can practise walking the distance before the parade day, which will help them get to know what it feels like.
• Please help your kids practise the dance and song that they will showcase during the parade. There will be a rehearsal in the Language Centre. Information is available via: https://bendigomandarin.weebly.com/easter-parade-performance.html
• It is very important that your children listen to and follow teachers' instruction at all time during the parade.
• If for any reasons that you know your child is unable to participate in the parade prior to the day (Sunday 21 April 2019), please contact the following person.
