Chunjing and Changhui arrived in Bendigo in late November and will be based at BSSC for at least 12 months as part of the Confucius Classroom program.
Juncai Lin, Coordinator of our Confucius Classroom program, said Chunjing and Changhui will be working within our international program during their stay as well as teaching in some of the 15 local primary schools linked to the Confucius Classroom program.
Chunjing and Changhui will also support the teaching of the Chinese language and culture during our free community classes conducted in the BSSC Language Centre every Wednesday evening from 5pm-7pm.
"Students at our college and at the local primary schools are very excited at the prospect of working with Chunjing and Changhui to develop their language skills and gain some firsthand knowledge of the Chinese culture," Juncai said. "Their cultural knowledge and expertise in the Chinese language will also be of great value to those who attend our free community classes."
The cleanliness of Australia along with our clear blue skies, white clouds and moderate climate have already made a great first impression on Chunjing and Changhui, and they say Australians are "very helpful, kind and friendly".
Chunjing is from Henan province in eastern China, "After I graduated I volunteered in the Philippines teaching English before teaching Chinese and doing my masters back in China" she said. "I enjoy travel and experiencing other cultures and I am sure I will enjoy my stay in Australia."
Changhui taught English at China's Heze University for five years before coming to Australia.
