It is sad to say goodbye to our lovely colleagues, but our two Chinese teachers, Ms Zhang Yi and Ms Piao Ye will leave Australia for their school on Sunday, 8th September. To farewell Ms Zhang and Ms Piao, BSSC and other relevant schools have prepared different forms of activities and events to acknowledge their effort and support. Ms Zhang Yi and Ms Piao Ye are from one of the BSSC’s sister schools, Haimen Dongzhou Middle School, They came to Bendigo last year and have since provided support for the Confucius Classroom Program (CC Program) in many ways. They have been a great asset to both the CC program and the International team. They undertook Chinese lesson delivery in three primary schools, two secondary colleges and the community classes. They also support every cultural event of CC program and International Team. We appreciate and value every effort they have made to the success the CC program and wish them all the best when they get home. Chinese cuisines have always been an important part of the Chinese culture. On Tuesday, 20th August, the Chinese Program students at Quarry Hill Primary School learned how to make dumplings with their Chinese teachers Ms Zhang Yi and Ms Piao Ye in their Chinese class. Although some students had been to Chinese restaurant before, this was their very first time to make Chinese food themselves. The whole cooking lesson included the ingredient mixing session, the wrapping dumpling observation session, the wrapping session, the cooking session and the tasting session. Students were engaged in very part of it, particularly when they were eating their self-made dumplings. Dear all,
I hope you have enjoyed your Chinese lessons and learned a lot from the class. I am writing to remind you of the timetable for the coming weeks and our two two teachers’ leave on 8th September. Our Chinese teachers, Yi and Ye will complete their one-year teaching support in BSSC Confucius Classroom on 6th September. To thank their support and teaching for the past one year, we would like to use the second hour of our last lesson on 4th September to farewell them. I am suggesting a farewell dinner with everyone bring a dish to share. Please let me know if you will be able to attend. As to the timetable for the coming weeks, please refer to below information. TEAM CHINA BACKGROUND Team China Schools grew out of an initial delegation of Bendigo Principals who travelled to the city of Suzhou in China in 2010. The purpose of the visit was to establish Sister School relationships, including a student and staff exchange program, with schools from the Suzhou Industrial Park Education Bureau. Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) is an ultra-modern, architecturally designed suburb that has been built by Singaporean and Chinese consortiums. There are high-tech industries and modern high rise apartment blocks for families, all surrounded by beautiful parklands. Each neighbourhood has its own school, built to accommodate 2000-3000 students, even though the neighbourhood itself may still be under construction! WAHT WE DO more... On Wednesday, 14th August, the Junior Department of California Gully Primary School students came to visit BSSC Confucius Classroom for a Chinese Cultural Immersion Day. Students from Pre to Grade 2 enjoyed a wide range of language and cultural activities which included Chinese Kungfu, Chinese Paper cutting, Chopstick Challenges, Peking Opera Mask painting, Chinese games and language learning. The immersion day finished with a presentation and a quiz session when students celebrated and reviewed their learning of the day. Some of the children have written reports on this day and you can read their reports below. Reports were retrieved from http://californiagullyps.vic.edu.au/page/85/Junior-School
